Who We Are

BC Accounting & Tax was founded by Bekki Cox in 2012 and has grown far beyond her wildest expectations. Bekki’s journey began while working in fast food to support herself and her young daughter. A pivotal conversation with her brother’s trusted college counselor changed the course of her life. She learned that children are 50% more likely to attend college if their parents do, and by the end of that conversation, Bekki had made the life changing decision to enroll in college. 

After graduating with her associates and bachelor’s degrees in accounting, she got a job as an administrative assistant at a small business in Bellingham. She quickly advanced to assistant to the CEO, gaining hands-on bookkeeping experience that would prove invaluable. Meanwhile, her mother ran a small tax preparation business from a home office and encouraged Bekki to start her own business, explaining to her that being her own boss meant there would be no limits to her success. 

In September 2012, Bekki took the leap, becoming her mother’s business partner and 50% owner, initially serving just one client. Through hard work and word-of-mouth referrals, the business grew rapidly. By December of 2012, they opened a small office in downtown Mount Vernon. Within six years, Bekki had bought out her mother, becoming the sole owner and expanding her team to four employees. 

As demand continued to grow, Bekki sought a larger space. But just as she began her search, the world shut down due to COVID-19. Fortunately, the business could operate remotely, allowing her team to continue working without layoffs. During this time, Bekki found and purchased the perfect office building in Burlington. The team moved in and opened the doors on September 21, 2021. Since then, BC Accounting & Tax has added three more employees and welcomed countless new clients. 

Bekki’s journey is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and the power of following your passion. She remains deeply grateful to all who have supported her along the way and looks forward to continuing to provide bookkeeping and tax services.

Owner

Bekki founded our company in 2012, and under her leadership, it has grown substantially. She is a hands-on owner who actively works with clients as a tax preparer and reviewer. Bekki is also an Enrolled Agent and a Certified Fraud Examiner, bringing deep expertise and a commitment to excellence to every aspect of the business. Her knowledge, dedication, and personal involvement make her a trusted advisor for our clients and a guiding force for our team.

Office Manager

Obra is our Office Manager and the heart of our office, wearing many hats to keep everything running smoothly. She’s often the first point of contact for our clients and has been with us since September 2019. Obra plays a vital role in every aspect of our operations, and her dedication, warmth, and expertise make her beloved by both our team and our clients.

Lindsey has been a valued member of our team since September 2018, serving as both our Onboarder for bookkeeping clients and our Operations Manager. She ensures new clients have a smooth, seamless start while keeping our office operations running efficiently behind the scenes.
